Rules
PLEASE EMAIL ROMANCINGTHEBEER@GMAIL.COM FOR ANY QUESTIONS OR PROBLEMS. THE CONTACT COORDINATOR FEATURE DOES NOT ALWAYS WORK.
Enties capped at 200 paid entries this year unless the judging pool confirmed prior to drop off day can confirm the entries will all be judged to completion by 3/22/25.
This competition is AHA sanctioned and open to any homebrewer age 21 or older who brewed on a home system. No entries brewed at a professional brewery will be accepted however professional brewers who brew at home may enter.
All mailed entries must be received at the mailing location by the shipping deadline - please allow for shipping time. You will be contacted if your entries are broken and given a chance to replace the entry if time permits prior to judging.
All entries will be picked up from drop-off locations shortly after the drop-off deadline. Entries may be dropped off at Tarantula Hill Brewing Company in Thousand Oaks until end of business on Saturday 3/8/25.
All entries must be handcrafted products, containing ingredients available to the general public, and made using private equipment by hobbyist brewers (i.e., no use of commercial facilities or Brew on Premises operations, etc.).
The competition organizers are not responsible for mis-categorized entries, mailed entries that are not received by the entry deadline, or entries that arrived damaged. Refunds will not be given but entrants will be given the opportunity to replace damaged bottles.
The competition organizers reserve the right to combine styles for judging and to restructure awards as needed depending upon the quantity and quality of entries.
Qualified judging of all entries is the primary goal of our event. Judges will evaluate and score each entry. The average of the scores will rank each entry in its category. Each flight will have at least one BJCP judge. Because large entry categories often have a mini-BOS the highest scoring entry may not receive the highest rank.
Brewers are not limited to one entry in each category but may only enter each subcategory once. This includes entering beers under a cobrewers name. Duplicate entries will be disqualified from awards.
The competition committee reserves the right to combine overall style categories based on number of entries. All possible effort will be made to combine similar styles. All brews in combined categories will be judged according to the style they were originally entered in.
The Best of Show judging will be determined by a Best of Show panel based on a second judging of the top winners.
Bottles will not be returned to entrants, but come judge or steward and take all you want!!!
